STORE CATTLE - FULL REPORT

THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (1st June) sold 182 store cattle and 17 young calves.

Bullocks (81) averaged 138.6p (+7p) to 173p per kg for a pair of 255kg Charolais from Bogburn, Auchenblae and £715 gross for a 512kg Limousin from 2 Bogie St, Huntly. 
Heifers (80) averaged 125.2p (-1.8p) to 147p per kg for a 418kg Charolais from 2 Bogie St, Huntly and £685 gross for a 616kg Charolais from Brownhill Croft, Methlick.
Bulls (21) averaged 119.7p (-15.3p) to 152p per kg for a 276kg Limousin from Birsebeg, Aboyne and £750 gross for a 680kg Simmental from Tombreckachie Farm, Glenlivet.
Young and reared calves (17) averaged £162.65 per head to £200 gross.

Heifers sold to a top of 137p per kg for a pen of 280kg Charolais realising £385 from Haybrake Farms.

THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (1st June) sold 1,760 store, breeding and feeding sheep.
Store and Island lambs (96) to £46 for Continentals from 42 Crombie Acres, Westhill.
Ewes & lambs (858) to £41 for Suffolk gimmers from Sootywell, Fordoun. 
Feeding ewes and rams
(806) averaged £36.28 (+£3.36) and sold to £70 for Charollais from Parkhouse, Maud.

 “Ewes with lambs at foot were dearer on the week. Feeding ewes also a very good trade”
