STORE CATTLE - FULL REPORT

THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (27th July) sold 274 store cattle and one young calf.
Bullocks (122) averaged 124.9p (nc) to 145p per kg for a pen of four 404kg Simmentals from Kedron, Skene and for a pair of 275kg Limousin from 13 Mid St, Keith and £875 gross for a 750kg Charolais cross from Stoneyford, Tarland. 
Heifers (127) averaged 120.8p (nc) to 147p per kg for a 350kg Simmental from Beltie Cottage, Glassel and £635 gross for a 526kg Simmental from Nethermill, Cruden Bay.
Bulls (25) averaged 95.5p (nc)  to 105p per kg for a Limousin cross from Craigiedaff, Durris and £500 gross for a Limousin from Boghead & Blackhills Farm, Mintlaw.
Young and reared calves (one) sold at £180.

Bullocks sold to a top of 141p per kg for a pen of 418kg Luing cross from Mucklehouse, Swannay, and £795 for a 670kg Simmental from Nether Onston, Stenness.
Heifers sold to a top of 138p per kg for a 426kg Simmental realising £590 from Mucklehouse.

STORE SHEEP - FULL REPORT
THAINSTONE, at the special sale of breeding gimmers and ewes (suitable for early lamb production) Aberdeen and Northern Marts (27th July) sold 1,315 store, breeding and feeding sheep.

Breeding gimmers and ewes (640) to £82 for Texel gimmers from Tullo of Garvock, Laurencekirk.
Breeding tups (13) to £230 for a Suffolk ram lamb from Newton of Balquhain, Pitcaple.
Store lambs (72) to £38 for Continentals from 8 Gaval Court, Fetterangus.
Ewes and lambs (65)
to £27 for Continental hoggs from Hill of Frendraught, Corse. 
Feeding ewes and rams
(525) averaged £23.18 (-£3.02) and sold to £45 for Texels from Ashvale Cottage, Cornhill.

 “At the annual special sale of down cross gimmers and ewes trade proved very selective with only the top lots meeting seller's expectations.  Feeding ewes also sold at reduced rates”.
