STORE CATTLE - FULL REPORT

THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (Friday 6th July) sold 170 store cattle and 14 young calves.
Bullocks (100) averaged 124.2p (+2.4p) to 157p per kg for a pen of 306kg Charolais from Battlefield, Aberchirder and £695 gross for a pair of 559kg Limousin from 14 Deveron Road, Turriff.. 
Heifers (59) averaged 121.3p (+1.2p) to 140p per kg for a 336kg Charolais from Battlefield and £660 gross for a 524kg Charolais from Scholland, Virkie, Shetland.
Bulls (11) averaged 102.35p (-2p) to 103p per kg for a 406kg Charolais from Portstown, Inverurie and a 494kg Limousin from Boghead, Mintlaw and £560 gross for a 554kg Limousin also from Boghead.
Young and reared calves (14) averaged £57.36 per head to £210 gross.

Store and Island lambs (23) to £53 for Texels from Milnbank, Turriff.
Ewes & lambs (127) to £30 for Cheviots from Mannachie, Forres. 
Feeding ewes and rams (429) averaged £28.13 (-£5.84) and sold to £62 for continentals from Fountainbleu, Newburgh.

 “Larger percentage of lightweight ewes resulted in a reduced average.”
