THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (14th December) sold 391 store cattle and 15 young calves.


Bullocks (212) averaged 120.7p (-0.5p) to 149p per kg for a pen of 255kg Continentals from Cluny Home Farms, Cluny and £785 gross for a pair of 569kg Charolais from Mowatseat, Craigievar and a pair of 662kg Charolais from South Croft, Cornhill.


Heifers (163) averaged 116.6p (-0.4p) to 138.5p per kg for a 462kg Charolais from Biggins, Toab and £690 gross for a 568kg Charolais from Bogentassie, Lumphanan.


Bulls (16) averaged 101.5p (-2.9p) to 127.2p per kg for a pair of 224kg Simmentals from Mossside of Gight, Fyvie and £450 gross for a 496kg Limousin from Whinnyhaugh, Elgin.


Young and reared calves (15) averaged £113 per head to £165 gross.

Heifers sold to a top of 138.5p per kg for a 462kg Charolais from Biggins, and £680 for a pair of 551kg Aberdeen Angus' from Spring Valley, Coweshouse.



Fodder
The company sold 775 bales. Inside barley straw sold to £5.40 per bale and outside barley straw sold to £4.20 per bale.

Hay sold at £11.60 per bale.

Silage sold to £8 per bale to average £7.40.
