Aberdeen and Northern Marts, Thainstone

THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (22nd September) sold 1,458 store cattle 26 Highland cattle and 41 young calves.

Bullocks (765) averaged 131.7p (+0.8p) to 195p per kg for a 442kg Limousin from from Quoybelloch, Deerness and £875 gross for a 704kg Limousin from Ord, Rhynie.

Heifers (673) averaged 126.5p (+2.6p) to 173p per kg for a 452kg Limousin from Morrison Crescent, Maud also 173p and £840 gross for a 486kg Limousin from 2 Bogie Street, Huntly.

Bulls (20) averaged 123.8p (+28.8p) to 165p per kg for a 246kg Limousin from Netherton Farms, Keith and £645 gross for a 565kg Simmental from Glenalva, Forglen.

Young and reared calves (41) averaged £150 per head to £295 gross.

At the Heatherhills Glenlivet Fold and Finnie 4x4 sponsored show and sale of Highland Cattle judged by J Crilly, Leys Castle, Inverness the overall champion was a 520kg Highland steer which realised £660 from Glenmuir, Auchnarrow and the reserve was a 510kg steer which realised £550 from Glenmuir.

The company sold 860 bales at their fodder sale. Barley straw to £6.80 per bale to average £6.20. Wheat straw to £4.50 per bale and silage sold to £8 per bale.

SHEEP

THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (22nd September) sold 2229 Island consigned sheep.

Store lambs to £43 for Suffolks from La Morlaye, Selivoe.
Breeding gimmers to £80 for Shetland Cheviots from Rona, Olaberry.
