THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (September 21st) sold 142 prime cattle, prime and 188 OTM cattle.

Prime bullocks (55) averaged 124p (-2.4p) to 140p per kg for a 510kg Aberdeen-Angus and a 580kg Limousin from Easter Tolmauds, Tornaveen purchased by Woodhead Brothers, Turriff and £963.90 gross for a 765kg Limousin from Clamandwells, Dudwick.. Prime heifers (85) averaged 126.8p (+2.3p) to 142p per kg for a 495kg Limousin from Montbletton Lodge, Banff and purchased by Bruce of the Broch, Fraserburgh and £975 gross for a 750kg Charolais from 52 Conval Street, Dufftown.

Young bulls (two) averaged 89p (nc) to 96p per kg and £657.60 gross for a 685kg Blonde d'Aquitaine from Druidsdale, Stonehaven.

Beef cows (109) averaged 73.93p (-4.17p) to 95p per kg for a 835kg Belgian Blue from North Craigieford, Ellon and a 640kg Limousin from Springburn, Kintore and £795 gross for the 835kg Belgian Blue from North Craigieford.

Dairy cows (50) averaged 51.46p (-5.8p) to 81p per kg for a 565kg Friesian from Berriedale Farms, St Margarets Hope and £515 gross for a 720kg Friesian from Wester Buthill, Elgin.

Farrow bulls (five) averaged 46.74p (-7.51p) to 52p per kg and £585 gross for a 1115kg Limousin from Corskellie, Rothiemay.

Heifers (15) averaged 74.08p (-0.62p) to 89p per kg for a 625kg Limousin from Veltigar, Tankerness and £605 gross for a 690kg Charolais from Whitefield House, Forglen. Steers (nine) averaged 73.37p (+1.9p) to 89p per kg for a 615kg Limousin from Glasslaw, Stonehaven.
