THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (13th September) sold 3,832 breeding gimmers.

Down Cross (15) averaged £75 (+£4.88) to £75 for a pen of 15 from South Blackrie, Fyvie.

Halfbred (964) averaged £82.89 (-£9.73) to £95 for a pen of 32 from South Blackrie and a pen of 41 from Westerton, Auchleuchries. Cheviot (249) averaged £67.53 to £82 for a pen of 42 from Bruceland, Elgin.

Cheviot/Mule (114) averaged £73.64 to £85 for a pen of five from West Mains, Nethermuir, Maud. Mule (2,380) averaged £77.06 (-5p) to £92 for a pen of 40 from Dunecht Home Farms, Dunecht. Greyface (76) averaged £75.89 (+£1.24) to £76 for a pen of 45 from Strichen Mains, Strichen.

Texel (nine) averaged £72.22 (+£6.97) to £80 for two from St John's Wells, Fyvie. Lleyn (25) averaged £59 to £59 for a pen of 25 from Newton Farm, Cairnie.

"Halfbred gimmers met a very selective demand. Mule were easily sold with top lots regularly exceeding £80."
