THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (1st September) sold 553 store cattle and nine young calves.

Bullocks (362) averaged 130.3p (+1.3p) to 152p per kg for a pen of 382kg Simmentals from Lower Weachyburn, Alvah and £780 gross for a 712kg Charolais from Rigifa, Nigg.

Heifers (187) averaged 126.9p (+7.2p) to 177p per kg and £790 gross for a 446kg Limousin from 2 Bogie Street, Huntly.

Bulls (4) averaged 126.5p (+16.9p) to 146p per kg for a 268kg Charolais from Invercauld Farm, Braemar and £500 gross for a 372kg Limousin from Upper Auchnagorth, New Byth.

Young and reared calves (9) averaged £70 per head to £105 gross for a Belgian blue bull and a Belgian blue heifer calf from Middleton Farms, Middleton of Rora, Longside.
