2006 Sales Reports

Friday 27th October

THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (27th October) sold 2,373 store cattle and weaned calves including 63 young calves.

In the Pfizer Animal Health sponsored Show and Sale of weaned calves judged by Mr G W Cameron, Conzie Forgue, Huntly, Overall Champion was a 376kg Limousin Cross steer from Mid Feenas, Nairn, which realised £800. Reserve champion was a 348kg Limousin Cross steer from Backmuir Trading, Keith, which realised £680.

Weaned calves
Bullocks (714) averaged 147.7p (+16.7p on the year) and sold to 309p per kg and £1,100 gross for a 356kg Charolais from Backmuir, Keith.
Heifers (504) averaged 134.6 p (+17.6p on the year) and sold to 286p per kg and £800 gross for a 280kg Limousin from Smallburn Farms, Mayne, Elgin.

Store cattle

Bullocks (656) averaged 123.5p (-7.6p) and sold to 154p per kg for 421kg Limousins from Redbanks, Tankerness, and £880 gross for a 732kg Belgian Blue from Newpark., Cornhill.

Heifers (406) averaged 118.5p (-5.4p) and sold to 141p per kg for a 432kg Simmental from Milton of Towie, Glenkindie and £720 gross for a 594kg Charolais from Burnervie, Rothiemay.

Bulls (30) averaged 107.8p (-6.1p) and sold to 148p per kg for 288kg Limousins from Westend, Newmill and £545 gross for a 430kg Limousin from Hillhead Auchmacleedie, Strichen.

Young and reared calves (63) averaged £180 per head and sold to £350 gross.
