THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (20th October) sold 1,963 store cattle including island consigned weaned calves and 33 young calves.

Bullocks (1,100) averaged 131.1p (+3.1p) and sold to 186.2p per kg for a 204kg Hereford from Pittenkerrie, Glassel and £955 gross for a 722kg Charolais from Groddie Farm, Logie Coldstone.

Heifers (833) averaged 123.9p (+1.7p) and sold to 152p for 296kg Charolais from Crichie, Inverurie and £800 gross for a 600kg Limousin from Brokenfolds, Turriff.

Bulls (30) averaged 113.9p and sold to 163.1p per kg for a 282kg Limousin from Meikle Tarty, Ellon, and £640 gross for a 502kg Limousin from Springwood Lodge, Tillyeve.

Young and reared calves (33) averaged £224 per head and sold to £370 gross.
