THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (24th November) sold
824 store cattle and weaned calves including five young calves.
Store cattle
Bullocks (440) averaged 129.1p (+0.7p) and sold to 192p
per kg for a 338kg Limousin from Shiel, Muir of Fowlis, and £875
gross for a 718kg Limousin from Easthill of Crimond, Keithhall.
Heifers (354) averaged 122p (+0.8p) and sold to 172p
per kg for a 308kg Limousin from Shiel, and £745 gross for 587kg
Ch.arolais from Ellands of Brodie, Brodie.
Bulls (30) averaged 117.5p (+4.4p) and sold to 153p per
kg for 259kg Charolais from Harestone, Crathes, and £545 gross for
550kg Simmentals from Middleton, Fintray.
Young and reared calves (5) averaged
£150 per head and sold to £190 gross.
"Strong cattle again dearer, weaned calves and stirks a firmer trade."

Heifers sold to 112p per kg for a pen of 440kg Aberdeen Angus from Myre,
South Ronaldsay.
FODDER
The company sold 420 bales. Barley straw sold at £7.40 a bale and
hay at £13 per bale. Silage sold to £11 per bale to average
£10.40 and feeding barley sold at £87 per tonne.
BREEDING CATTLE
THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (24th November) sold 114 head
of adult breeding cattle including one bull.

Echt. Feeding ewes and rams (1216) averaged
£26.85(-£0.45) and sold to £50 for
Suffolks from Muirtack, Auchleuchries.
“Quality store lambs met a similar trade, secondary sorts slightly
easier. Feeding ewes again sold well”.
