Aberdeen and Northern Marts, Thainstone

THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (17th November) sold 1,312 store cattle and weaned calves including 19 young calves.

Store cattle
Bullocks (729) averaged 128.4p (+1.4p) and sold to 179p per kg for a 305kg Limousin from Harestone, Crathes, and £880 gross for a 664kg Charolais from Meikle Begshill, Drumblade. 

Heifers (507)
averaged 121.2p (-1.1p) and sold to 244p per kg for a 254kg Limousin from Harestone, and £785 gross for a 620kg Charolais from Cairnhead, Lumsden.

Bulls (57)
averaged 113.1p (-6.1p) and sold to 138p per kg for a 334kg Charolais from Nether Kirkton, Barthol Chapel, and £760 gross for a 826kg Charolais from Portstown, Inverurie.

Young and reared calves
(19) averaged £170 per head and sold to £300 gross.
"Quality well presented lots easier dole while rougher, plainer, types little change."

(1,106) averaged £27.30(+£3.16) and sold to £48 for Suffolks from Nether Aucharnie, Forgue.

 “Store lambs were dearer on the week.  Feeding ewes also met a firmer trade.”
