THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (14th July) sold 299 store cattle and nine young calves.

Bullocks (132) averaged 125.9p (-11.4p) to 147p per kg for a pen of 347kg Simmentals from Nether Tillylair, Lumphanan and £760 gross for a 604kg Limousin from Dennybrae, Longside.

Heifers (158) averaged 120.7p (-1.4p) to 164p per kg for a 304kg Belgian Blue from 27 Cairnie Place, Buckie and £795 gross for a 616kg Blonde from Woodend, Auchterless.

Bulls (9) averaged 112.8p (+3.4p) to 122p per kg for a 294kg Charolais from Portstown, Inverurie and £615 gross for a 522kg Simmental from Cairntack, Belhelvie.

Young and reared calves (9) averaged £144 per head to £220.
