PRIME CATTLE - FULL REPORT

THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (7th December ) sold 60 prime cattle, prime and 218 OTM cattle.

Prime bullocks (39) averaged 123.9p (-2.0p) and sold to 133p per kg for a 730kg Limousin from Newton of Deershaw, Alvah, and £1,020.70 gross for a 865kg Charolais from Newton of Ballunie, Kettins.

Prime heifers (19) averaged 127p (-0.5p) and sold to 144p per kg for a 585kg Charolais from Caskieben, Kinellar, and purchased by Rhinds of Elgin, and £995.40 gross for a 790kg Charolais from Newton of Ballunie.

Young bulls (two) averaged 105.5p (-2.2p) and sold to 107p per kg and £1,037.90 gross for a 970kg Charolais from Inverlochy, Tomintoul, and purchased by C Anderson, Lockerbie.

Beef cows (162) averaged 72.25p (-0.05p) and sold to 111p per kg for a 750kg Charolais from Blelack, Dinnet, Aboyne and £955 gross for a 960kg Charolais from Blelack, Dinnet.

Dairy cows (25) averaged 42.1p (+8.84p) and sold to 77p per kg and £545 gross for a 705kg Friesian from Newton of Ballunie, Kettins.

Farrow bulls (six) averaged 62.52p (-2.43p) and sold to 80p per kg for a 960kg Limousin from Nether Tillygarmond, Finzean and £795 gross for a 1100kg Charolais from Quoymorhouse, Balfour .

Heifers (21) averaged 85.22p (+19.07p) and sold to 99p per kg for a 600kg Limousin from Netherton, Forres and for a 630kg Limousin from Towiemore, Keith and £745 gross for a 795kg Charolais from Newton of Ballunie.

Steers (four) averaged 66.53p (-23.93p) to 87p per kg for a 590kg Limousin from Pitgair, Fisherie and £615 gross for a 775kg Simmental from Netherton, Forres.
